From our first 7s kickoff to the last team hangout, Summer 2025 reminded us why this game isn’t just about rugby — it’s about the people who show up, the traditions we keep alive, and the memories we make in the heat.

Tournament Season: Sweat, Sunscreen, and Sideline Stories
Summer for the Monsoons means 7s rugby, and this year was no different. We traveled, we battled, and we left every pitch with grass stains and stories.
Lakefront 7s in Milwaukee was a standout — not just because of the competition, but because of the weather that tested every ounce of resilience we had. Imagine running full speed in a furnace, then sprinting back to a sideline where hydration became a team sport. We laughed, we groaned, and we still found those bursts of magic in the middle of the chaos: big tackles, clean tries, and teammates picking each other up (literally and figuratively). We’re also proud to announce that the Monsoons were the winners of the Lakefront 7s Heroes and Villains costume contest… because we were the only team who actually showed up in costume. A win’s a win, and we’ll take it!
Closer to home, we also made a statement in Boston 7s and Worcester 7s tournaments. We rolled in with that signature Monsoon mix of determination and chaos, and left with highlight-worthy moments splashed across our feed. From crisp passing to scrappy rucks, we were hungry to play and having fun doing it. It was also an added bonus to be able to play in Worcester 7s alongside our men's team!
We rounded out the summer season with the always fun CanAm 15s Rugby Tournament in the picturesque setting of Lake Placid, NY. This annual event has become a highlight for rugby enthusiasts, drawing teams from various regions, both near and far, to compete in a spirited atmosphere that celebrates the sport. The tournament not only provides an opportunity for intense competition on the field but also fosters camaraderie and friendship among players and fans alike.
Traditions That Make Us, Us
Of course, summer rugby isn’t just about the tournaments. It’s about the quirky, glitter-covered traditions that only North Shore can pull off. Prom Dress Rugby once again turned the pitch into a runway. It’s the perfect reminder that rugby can be fierce and fabulous at the same time.
And then there’s Pride. Marching, celebrating, and showing off our Monsoon blue in a rainbow sea of love never gets old. These moments are just as much a part of our identity as the games themselves.
Growing the Game
In partnership with the North Shore Men's team, we launched our first ever North Shore Masterclass, a skills session designed to break the game down and build it back up. Players of all levels came out to learn, ask questions, and get hands-on coaching from experienced coaches and players. It was rugby education with a side of laughs, and we can’t wait to make it a regular part of our calendar. Summer 2025 was everything a Monsoon summer should be: tournaments that pushed us, traditions that grounded us, sponsors that supported us, and teammates who made every hot, sticky, hilarious moment worth it.
Now we trade the 7s pitches for the 15s grind. Fall is here, and we’re ready to bring the storm.
